An introduction to casting glass objects in sand. In this class we'll press objects into fine sand mixed with bentinite (which will help retain detail.) We'll then ladle molten glass into the negative spaces in the sand, casting your piece and creating life-like objects. Think ahead about making multiple pours: Sets of objects can be created easily!

Lost Wax Kiln Casting

Cast found or created objects in glass! The process is easy: We will make rubber molds around objects, then pour wax into the rubber molds, creating your object in wax. The mold will be encased in plaster-silica. Then we'll melt the wax, creating a negative space of your object in the plaster silica mold. The molten glass (colored) will drip in to your mold, casting your object in glass!
