Introduction to Glassblowing
GLXXX-C1
1.5 Cr
Twelve-Week Course
Undergraduate Course Fee: $850

Students will learn the basic skills of blowing glass from the furnace. Beginning students will be guided through the process of gathering molten glass, shaping and blowing to create basic vessels and sculptural forms.

Intermediate Glassblowing
GLXXX-C1
1.5 Cr
Twelve-Week Course
Undergraduate Course Fee: $850

This class is designed to help beginners refine their skills. the first half of the class focuses on drills to help students work faster and hotter. With practice, students will learn to distribute smaller amounts of glass more effetively. During the second half of the class, students will have the opportunity to explore more complex forms such as bottles, plates and hour glass cyclinders.

STUDENTS ENROLLING IN INTERMEDIATE GLASSBLOWING SHOULD BE ABLE TO BLOW CYCLINDERS OPEN VESSELS AS WELL AS FORM AND APPLY PONTILS.

Introduction to Flameworking
GLXXX-C1

Twelve-Week Course
Undergraduate Course Fee: $750

This class is an introduction to basic flameworking techniques used to make both vessels and sculptural forms incorporated into vessel stoppers. The course uses a structured approach to torch use, flame, heat and gravity in projects which become increasingly advanced as the course progresses.
