ONE SESSION WORKSHOPS

Bead Making 101: Moretti (1 Day)
Course Fee: $100

Class size limit: 9
In this introductory class, students will learn how to make beautiful glass beads on a mandrel. After a discussion of studio set-up, safety, and demonstrations our experienced instructors will introduce students to the use of heat and gravity to shape molten glass. You will use soft glass, Moretti, to build these colorful glass pieces. Demonstrations will alternate with working time. No experience necessary. Return students welcome. All materials included.

Flame Working 101: Boro (1 Day)
Course Fee: $130

Class size limit: 9
This hands-on flame working course covers the basics of shaping colorful glass in the flame of a stationary propane/oxygen torch. There will be a discussion of studio set-up and safety, followed by periodic demonstrations and plenty of practice time. Throughout the day, students will create beads, glass pendants and marbles.

Flame Working Sampler (1 Day)

Class size limit: 9
This beginner course will introduce flame working at a stationary bench torch. This class is the ideal way to enjoy the excitement of melting the glass in the torch while making your very own piece. Students will experience putting the melted glass on the mandrel, controlling, shaping, and sculpting it to produce colorful beads. The course is intended to briefly introduce flame work to the student for further consideration.

Flame Working: Animals (1 Day)
Course Fee: $130

Class size limit: 9
Learn to sculpt a variety of animals with either Moretti or Boroscilicate glass at a stationary bench torch. After a discussion of studio set-up and safety, demonstrations will introduce students to the use of heat and gravity to shape molten glass. Techniques for applying color and manipulating the form will be practiced. By the end of the class you will have created several sculptural pieces.

Flame Working: Marbles (1 Day)
Course Fee: $130

Class size limit: 9
Using either Moretti or Borosilicate glass, students will learn how to make several styles of marbles, such as complex twists, raked designs, and paperweight-style encased flowers. Our experienced instructors will also teach students the techniques for encasing marbles in clear for a magnifying effect, and make glass stands for you to proudly display your creations. Demonstrations will alternate with plenty of working time.

Flame Working: Pendants (1 Day)

Using Borosilicate glass, students will learn to shape and mold a variety of objects, including flowers, at a stationary bench torch. Sculptures will then be cased in clear glass to produce a pendant. The instructor will demonstrate techniques and then assist as each student works on their pieces.

This workshop will focus on blowing Borosilicate glass at the torch. After teacher demonstration, explanations and class discussions, students will proceed individually with work time. Our experienced instructors will assist with one-on-one attention. Students will learn how to blow hollow forms, add color, and sculpt. This course is the perfect opportunity for students to develop and hone their skills.

This two-day continuing Moretti course will cover intermediate techniques including buttons, hollows, and small sculpture. Through a series of class demonstrations, discussions and hands-on practice you will further your skills at the torch.

This three-week class will advance your skill and knowledge of flameworking techniques and tools. Our experienced instructors will introduce new techniques for decorating your pieces. Students will learn how to transfer images to the glass, cane and murrini techniques, along with other special effects. This course is ideal for any student looking to advance their skills in the flameworking shop. Tools and supplies are provided.

Bead Making 1: Moretti (Tue /4 Weeks)

This course will focus on lamp work bead making using a flame and soft glass to make one-of-a-kind glass beads and objects. Through demonstrations, class discussions and plenty of hands-on practice sessions, will explore beginner to intermediate techniques. Troubleshooting common mistakes and difficulties will also be part of the course. One primary focus throughout this class will be the study of heat. No experience necessary. All materials included.

In this course, beads, marbles, pendants, sculptures and more will be covered. Demonstrations and class discussions will alternate with plenty of hands-on work time in an effort to make sure students get the most out of this course. No experience necessary.

Flameworking 2: Boro Glass (Mon /4 Weeks)
Course Fee: $270

Class size limit: 9
This four-week workshop will advance your knowledge of flameworking techniques and tools. Through a series of demonstrations and plenty of hands-on work time, students will learn how to blow hollow beads, color and sculptural techniques. Prerequisite: Flameworking I.
