Glassblowing 1: Basics and Fundamentals

Students will learn the basic skills of blowing glass from the furnace. Experienced instructors will guide beginners through gathering molten glass on the end of a blowpipe, shaping it and blowing it to create basic vessels. Through weekly demonstration and coaching, instructors will demystify the principles of forming hot glass. Our final destination will be a well-executed cylinder using colored glass. Glassblowing is a synthesis of artistic vision, physical challenge and teamwork. All tools and supplies are provided. No previous experience is required.
